Save the date for this year’s annual alumni reunion at Smarmore Castle: Sunday, 24th August, 2025. Tickets are available from Eventbrite.
Join us for a heartfelt day of connection, reflection, and celebration. This special event welcomes former patients, their families, and loved ones back to Smarmore Castle to mark their recovery journey and reconnect with others who have walked a similar path.
You’ll hear powerful stories of recovery, listen to meaningful shares and speeches, and be reminded that long-term recovery is possible. Whether you’re just beginning or many years into your journey, this day is about belonging, encouragement, and hope.
Held in the peaceful surroundings of Smarmore Castle, the reunion is an opportunity to revisit the place where change began, renew friendships, and feel the strength of the recovery community.
We warmly welcome you to join us for this exciting milestone in Smarmore’s history.
Guest Speaker
We are delighted that Mr Paddy Creedon will be our guest speaker on our 10th Birthday and reflect on our 10-year journey with you all. Paddy was very involved in the ‘birth’ of Smarmore Castle, and we look forward to his speech on the day.

Paddy Creedon – Poet and Recovery Advocate
Paddy Creedon has been in long-term recovery since 1977 and brings deep lived experience to his role as a Recovery Advocate. Originally from Tarbert, Co. Kerry, and now based in Newry, Co. Down, Paddy combines his passion for writing and poetry with public speaking, aiming to connect and inspire through honest storytelling.
A board member of Alcohol Action Ireland, he was a signatory of the 2023 Voices of Recovery Charter. Paddy holds an MBA from Vlerick Business School and continues to advocate for compassionate, community-driven responses to addiction.
