Join us for a heartfelt day of connection, reflection, and celebration. This special event welcomes former patients, their families, and loved ones back to Smarmore Castle to mark their recovery journey and reconnect with others who have walked a similar path.

You’ll hear powerful stories of recovery, listen to meaningful shares and speeches, and be reminded that long-term recovery is possible. Whether you’re just beginning or many years into your journey, this day is about belonging, encouragement, and hope.

Held in the peaceful surroundings of Smarmore Castle, the reunion is an opportunity to revisit the place where change began, renew friendships, and feel the strength of the recovery community.

We warmly welcome you to join us for this exciting milestone in Smarmore’s history.

Programme of events

Guests are invited to register at the tent on the castle lawn from 10:00 am, where tea, coffee, and biscuits will be served.

The morning opens at 11:30 am with a welcome from MC Keith Cassidy, Executive Director, followed by a candle lighting ceremony in honour of those still struggling with addiction.

Dr Peter McCann, Medical Director of Castle Craig, will then deliver the reunion address, before the floor is handed to recovery guest speakers and family members sharing their own experiences of the journey.

The afternoon closes at 14:00 pm, with lunch to follow: deluxe roast beef rolls and desserts, served as guests take the chance to reconnect and explore the grounds of Smarmore Castle.

Available throughout the day

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy live music, visit the on-site ice cream van, and let younger visitors loose in the children’s play tent with face painting.

There will also be a chance to meet the Smarmore therapy horses, with memorabilia and a selection of books available to purchase from the shop tent.
